Earlier today the person behind the massive twitter scam last week has been identified [Name redacted because the teen is a minor] as a 17-year-old Florida, Tampa Teen.
Amongst the accounts that got hijacked were Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Bill gates, and numerous other celebrities accounts and they were used to promote a massive bitcoin. The success of the bitcoin scam is believed to be anywhere between $100k-$400k
The teen was arrested and charged earlier this week the office of Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren announced. And the described mastermind behind the attack is facing over 30 felonies, some brought up were communications fraud, organized fraud, fraudulent use of personal information and numerous other related charges.
The Tampa Teen did not act alone, dep. of justice also mentioning another teen in Florida and one in the United Kingdom these teens are facing similar but not as severe charges.
Twitter has since the arrest also come out with an announcement thanking law enforcement for their swift actions.
